A Pre-Covid Marketing Concept That Still Rings 100% True
I know: The pandemic changed marketing. Web 3 is changing marketing. TikTok changed marketing.
Sometimes it feels like everything is new.
But some tried and true ideas are so spot on: They’re truly evergreen.
I was going back through old emails as part of my personal get-on-pinterest strategy and I found this one and though “Oh, this is still one of my favorite quotes.”
Are you ready for it?
Dean Graziosi was on an episode of the Goal Digger Podcast prior to January 2020 and he shared an idea I couldn’t get out of mind. To paraphrase, he compared marketing to planes flying. People will say "Oh, Facebook ads didn't work for me; or, oh email doesn't work for me...No one says 'Airplanes don't work.'"
This idea is EVERYTHING. We can accept that airplanes fly, we just don't know how to fly them...so why do people go around saying this platform or that social strategy--whatever they're struggling with--just doesn't work for their business?
Let's keep going with this metaphor: If you wanted to fly somewhere, you'd (1) Book a flight with a pilot or (2) Learn to fly a plane.
Marketing works the same way. If you can't break through, you have two great options (1) Hire someone who knows how to help you reach your goals [picture me, raising my hand] or, if you're set on DIY-ing it (2) Increase your skills. Watch a course, check out a book, learn from someone who's great at whatever you want to learn.
Whatever you do, don't keep on with a marketing strategy that's not converting or give up entirely. Marketing works, and it can work for you.
