Why you should send a “year in review” email
There's a lot of talk this time of year about “setting yourself up for success in 2023.” And I have to tell you: sending your list a year in review email is one of the best ways to do it.
Why?
You know the power of showing over telling.
You know that people like buying from someone with a track record.
You (may not) know that most people in your audience, probably don't know the full extent of what you can do or how they can work with you.
As always, here's the most strategic way to write one:
Think about the work you'd like to be known for and do more of in the future and start there.
For example, I have big statistics around my work in social audio--but I'm not going to lead with that because I won't waste the precious opportunity of sharing my impact with my audience with distractions. What will I be sharing: strategic calls with thought leaders, brands I built, cool content I masterminded, million-dollar companies I consulted for.
And I'll tell you why: Because every time I send my list a “here's what we did this year” email, I get inquiries about helping people do that same type of work the following year.
Think about it: whether you're a trainer and you share how many people you helped get stronger; or you're a musician and you share how many gigs you performed; or you're a realtor and you share how many houses you sold; or you're a coach and you share how many people enrolled in your courses---you're telling your audience how they can work with you.
So, if you've shared a Spotify wrapped, but you haven't yet told your audience all the incredible work you did this year, add that email to the list for December.
Thank them for being a part of your community in 2022, and invite them to work with you more closely in 2023.
